"Edelweiss" was the last song Hammerstein ever wrote. He died of cancer nine months after the show opened. Many people believe it\'s a traditional Austrian folk song. It isn\'t.

- Because Neway was appearing as the Mother Abbess in the original 1959 Broadway production of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II’s The Sound of Music, she was free only on Sundays, and so the 1960 revival was given twice on two consecutive Sunday evenings.
