In 1963 Louisiana, African-American maid Caroline Thibodeaux works in the basement of the Gellman family, a Jewish household mourning the recent death of the mother. Eight-year-old Noah Gellman leaves his change in his pockets for Caroline, but when his stepmother makes a rule that Caroline can keep any change she finds, it forces both Caroline and Noah to confront uncomfortable truths about race, money, and the wind…
