Hope Springfield, a mousy chorus girl, is accidentally cast as the lead in a big Hollywood musical when a studio mogul mistakes her for someone else. Thrust into the spotlight opposite a vain, dimwitted movie star, Hope navigates the absurdities of the studio system, fends off scheming rivals, and discovers that her genuine talent and charm are more powerful than all of Hollywood's manufactured glamour.
