In the same newspaper, Vincent Canby noted that recent Broadway choreography was often “nondescript” (as in Footloose) or “solemnly obligatory” and “instructive” (Ragtime), and so it was good to see the “terrifically entertaining” and “rich, bewitching” tribute to Fosse.
