One of Broadway’s most lavish wartime attractions (it had a cast of 89), Mexican Hayride owed its success largely to its appealing Latin-flavored score by Cole Porter (including the hit ballad “I Love You”), its eye-dazzling decor, its rows of long-stemmed show girls, and — most of all — the buffooneries of prankish, leering Bobby Clark.
