In the Five Points neighborhood of 1863 Manhattan, Irish immigrants and free Black Americans live side by side in a fragile but vibrant community. When the Civil War draft threatens to tear the neighborhood apart along racial lines, a Black saloon owner named Nelly O'Brien fights to hold her community together as the catastrophic New York City Draft Riots erupt around them.
