In 1590s London, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are struggling playwrights jealous of the rock-star fame of William Shakespeare. When a soothsayer tells them that the future of theatre is musicals, they attempt to write the world's first musical — which turns out to be a hilariously mangled version of Hamlet called Omelette.
