Around this production

Military Minstrel Show,

A great theatrical event occurred at the Broadway on July 4, 1942. America was at war, and Irving Berlin, who had written a lame World War I soldier show called Yip, Yip, Yaphank, came up with another. It was This Is the Army, and its opening night at the Broadway was one of the greatest in the history of the theatre.
