Two of the most successful pop song writers of the mid-Sixties, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, made a worthy — and so far only — contribution to the Broadway theatre with their score for Promises, Promises. Adapted from the 1960 movie, The Apartment, the musical followed such other recent offerings as How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, I Can Get It for You Wholesale, and What Makes Sammy Run? by revealing yet another method of getting ahead in the business world.
